About the treatment
Dermatoscopy of skin growths
Professional assessment of moles and other skin growths with a dermatoscope. During the consultation I examine the lesions and assess their structure, shape, colour, borders and other dermatoscopic features.
What the service includes
- dermatoscopy of moles (naevi);
- assessment of pigmented skin lesions;
- diagnosis of skin tags, keratomas and other growths;
- detecting dermatoscopic features suspicious for malignant change;
- assessing growths that have changed shape, size or colour;
- deciding the next step: monitoring, removal or referral for further tests;
- advice on prevention and regular mole checks.
Removal of benign skin growths
Removal of skin growths for medical and cosmetic reasons using the radiowave method. I remove benign growths only, and choose the approach individually.
Which growths can be removed
- skin papillomas;
- seborrhoeic keratomas;
- soft fibromas (skin tags);
- dermatofibromas - when indicated;
- benign naevi - after a doctor's assessment and choice of approach;
- other benign skin lesions.
What the procedure includes
- an initial consultation with a dermatologist and dermatologic surgeon;
- dermatoscopic examination;
- checking indications and contraindications for removal;
- local anaesthesia if needed;
- removal with the radiowave method;
- histology of the removed tissue when indicated;
- aftercare advice;
- a follow-up of healing if needed.
When to see a doctor
- a mole is growing or changing shape;
- its colour or structure has changed;
- irregular borders or asymmetry have appeared;
- a growth itches, hurts or bleeds;
- a new pigmented spot has appeared;
- a growth is constantly rubbed by clothing or jewellery;
- you want a growth removed for cosmetic reasons.
Why see a dermatologic surgeon
A complete approach to skin health, from diagnosis to treatment. My goal is not simply to remove a growth but first to assess its safety, choose the right approach and provide proper medical follow-up. If a growth looks suspicious, I do not remove it but refer you for further tests.
Look after your skin. Timely diagnosis is an important part of skin cancer prevention.
