How to prepare for an injectable treatment and what to do after

Good preparation reduces the risk of bruising and swelling, and proper aftercare helps you get a better result. Here is the short checklist I give my patients.

5-7 days before

  • with your doctor's agreement, avoid aspirin and other blood-thinning painkillers;
  • pause supplements with omega-3, vitamin E or ginkgo;
  • no tanning or peels in the treatment area;
  • do not plan treatment right before an important event - allow 10-14 days for possible bruising.

The day before and on the day

  • no alcohol;
  • sleep well and eat;
  • come without make-up or be ready to remove it;
  • tell me how you feel, which medicines you take and about previous treatments.

After the treatment

  • do not touch or massage the area unless told otherwise;
  • no make-up for the first day;
  • no sauna, steam room, pool, sunbed or intense exercise for 3-7 days;
  • avoid sleeping face-down for the first nights after fillers;
  • SPF 30-50 every day;
  • less salt and alcohol - swelling settles faster.

What is normal and when to call your doctor

Normal: mild swelling, redness, small bumps, bruising and tenderness that pass within a few days. Contact your doctor straight away if you notice severe or increasing pain, pale or bluish skin, changes in vision, a high temperature or signs of allergy. I am always available after a treatment.
